Dear Diary,

A titleless entry because I have no title to put in. Let me see, current update of me and only me.

The automation test is over for two days. I did fair in the test. Not 100% correct, but at least could score some points.

The Electric Drive test is on Friday afternoon and need to study for it. Probably later. I am only having afternoon class tomorrow.

The climb to the Summit of Mount Kinabalu was confirmed. May 12th until 15th. Summit climb will be on the early morning of May 14th. We went to the bank just now to pay the lodging.

I am halfway through Firstborn now. Quite exciting too.

Keishen says he want to celebrate the end of Test 1 season on this Friday night. And he wants to drink. We will see how it goes.

Malam Pra Graduan is on Saturday night. I am not totally excited about it. Nothing much to do at that night but eat at a classy restaurant, if the restaurant is classy. It costs RM 60.00, so I expect it to be a nice one.

Something extra.
To my surprise, the movie Slumdog Millionaire which won eight awards in the Academy Award. I have read the book quite sometimes ago. The actual title is Q&A by Vikas Swarup. It is a very interesting book to read and I can say the story was very exciting. And in 2008, it comes out as a movie.

How I Impress Girls

Nothing beats a hand made gift to your special someone. It shows your sincerity because you put effort into it rather than just buy from the store. In this post, I am making a Bouquet of Thirty Three Roses.

1

This is my materials. Creep papers. For the flower part, I get rough creep and for the stem, fine creep. We also need steel string. For the rough creep paper, I cut a width of one and one quarter inch. For the fine creep paper, I cut one inch by eighteen inch. For the stem, I use eleven to twelve inch. You can experiment with the measurements.

2

For the wrapping, I used fancy wrapper, tissue wrapper and fancy ribbon. All of these just to make a bouquet of flower. Quite cheap.

3

My tools of the day, Pliers, cutter and ruler. No glue, no tape which I like it. Some would prefer scissors rather than cutter.

4

First of all, put the steel on the rough creep paper like shown.

5

Roll in.

6

Fold the roller part into half to secure the roll.

7

Tilt the loose edge of the paper and fold the paper back on the line shown.

8

Roll the stem inward.

9

This is what I get.

10

Keep folding and rolling.

11

Folding and rolling.

12

Folding and rolling.

13

Until the edge. Keep one to one and one half inch left.

14

Roll the left over around the stem

15

Keep rolling.

16

Until you get this.

17

Make a knot as shown to secure the rose with the help of the pliers.

18

Another finish rose.

19

Take the soft creep paper to wrap around the bottom part.

20

Make an initial three rounds.

21

And keep going down at forty five degree.

22

Keep going until the stem is covered with green paper.

23

Then tighten the whole stem. Keep twisting.

24

Secure with a knot like step 17.

25

Cut off the excess with the pliers.

26

Some examples.

27

Close view.

28

Getting more and more.

29

After doing this, two albums has already gone.

30

At last, secure with with the steel string.

31

Taa-daa.

32

Lastly, wrap with the wrappers and tie it with a ribbon. It is ready to go. Isn't that lovely? And it only costs me less than RM 20 and the expensive part is the wrappers, not the flowers. On Valentine's Day, the whole thing would actually costs RM 330.

So, what are you still waiting? Make your girl a gift of rose bouquet today. LoL. For more guide, go to this link.

Sunstorm

Second book of the Time Odyssey by Arthur C. Clarke and Stephen Baxter.

The second book was much more exciting than the first book. After the character return from the torn apart Earth, Mir, she found that the Earth will be bombarded with the Sun's energy. One year's energy will be released in just one day.

Of course it is not the act of nature. It was the Firstborn's fault. They are doing for the greater good.

The climax was much more thrilling than the first book. There are more scientific elaboration in the second book compared to the first thus making it enjoyable to sci-fi chasers.

Official date of first reading Feb 15th to 20th.

Heart and Arrow

Paper fold or money fold out of Malaysian Ten Ringgit Bill

Heart and Arrow by ~temporary40 on deviantART

This is a piece of advance origami, the art of Japanese Paper Folding. It is not much of Japanese now but a global thing. Of course it originated from Japan.

Folding this tiny fellow is not easy. It takes patience and detail to finish. And for your information, this is my second piece folded from ten ringgit bill in my life.

This piece is basically a heart with an arrow puncture through it. Just as simple as that but the rules of origami is no cutting and no gluing. Just one whole piece of paper.

Credits goes to Stephen Hecht, owner of the folds.

A Time Odyssey: Time's Eye

The Time Odyssey Book One by Stephen Baxter and Arthur C. Clarke. This book is a science fiction and Clarke was the famous science fiction of our time.

This book tells the tale of our Earth been ripped apart not in space but time. The event happened and suddenly you are facing a world of jigsaw puzzle placed together with each pieces from different times.

So happen that Alexander the Great and Genghis Khan was put together and they will fight to reign over the new world.

The event started from no where and after that, there are eyes hovering above our new Earth, or they call it Mir. Not just one or two buy many. And the weird thing is, the pi ratio for the eye sphere was three, not about three and one seventh.

My Review
The story was interesting all right but the beginning of the story was naggy (if it is a word) and elaborative (again, if it is a word). Conclusion, the beginning was boring. It grows more interesting when you comes to the end of the book but the climax was so so. Not too interesting if you compare to books by Dan Brown.

The English was a bit hard to comprehend. If you compare to any teenagers' book, the vocabulary used was deep. And yet, it was still understoodable. The happenings in the book was easy to understand.

On to the next Book: Sunstorm

Hypertension on A Silver Platter?

One day, Khin Hooi went to a doctor to ask about health.

Khin Hooi: Hi doc, I wanna know the secrets of long living. Could you share some hints?

Doc: I see. Do you smoke?

Khin Hooi: Oh no, I hate smoking.

Doc: Well then, are you a heavy drinker?

Khin Hooi: Nope, I barely drink.

Doc: Hmm, [whispering] Do you have sex often.

Khin Hooi: Nope.

Doc: THEN YOU WANNA LIVE THAT LONG FOR WHAT?

Khin Hooi: ...

Okay, it is a mock up story. But there is no harm in living a healthy life right?

My Self Development Lecturer claims that men are not health conscious because of busy lifestyle and such and women are more health conscious. It maybe true to some extend. But she claims too that men are getting more aware about the importance of health.

Here are some habits that I found out from sources like newspaper, net, television, radio et cetera and I would like to share some of them with any reader here. It also will be my reminder of leading a healthy lifestyle.

Starting from EATING.

1) Eat according to the Food Pyramid.

Did anyone knew there is a new food pyramid according to the USDA (Unites States Department of Agriculture). Means the old school pyramid is not really working. For short, eat more grain and vegetable and fruits and avoid meat and oil and sugar and salt.

More info at http://mypyramid.gov

2) Eat less.

I learnt this from Discovery Channel. Eat only the food you need. Never stuff you stomach with extra stuff even you were fasting for three days. The logic is like an engine, you pump in more fuel, the more it will go, and the faster it will wear out. Same as a human body. Its also like you eat a lot of sweets, your pancreas works too much, they go on strike, and the next day you are a diabetic person.

3) As chinese says 早上吃得饱,中午吃得好,晚上吃得少. (Morning eat full, afternoon eat good, night eat less)

You sleep through the night without any food, so your body are lacked of energy. That is why the morning meal we call it break-fast. We were fasting when we sleep. I heard this from the radio, those who eats breakfast regularly are less prone to heart disease. At night, eat less because it is not like you are going to climb a mountain at night. Fruits and salad are good at night, less energy but high in vitamins and minerals.

4) Drink a bottle of 500 ml water after you woke up from the bed.

Same as above, your body are dehydrated from sleeping without drinking. Lol, who would wake up every hour to take a cup of water. From the net, you should drink 4 cups of 160ml water and wait for 45 minutes before breakfast.

5) Avoid fast food outlet.

Say no to burger, fried drumstick, french fries. As Squidward Tentacles says it is a Heart Attack on A Bun. Once or twice a month is okay for fellowship or other reasons. You can even opt for some healthier outlet.

Then to habits

6) Exercise and breath more fresh air.

You no need to take up sports for the sake of exercise. Just walk around is enough. Take an evening walk with you family or shopping. Yeah shopping. Good news for shopaholics. You know you spend a lot of energy by just walking around a giant mall? And to those who are going through exam or hard office worker. Go out for some air. Although the air in Kuala Lumpur is not that fresh but it is better than an office. Did you know you house toilet is cleaner that than your work or study place?

7) Avoid smoking and drugs.

Smoking is like pouring tar in your chest. Who wants black tar in your chest? I don't feel good smelling vehicles fumes while waiting at the bus stop, why smoking be better? I never try smoking though, I don't know, maybe it makes that person look cool or something. I don't know. Some say life is too short to not enjoy smoking. What the. Refer to New Straits Times for February 9th, 2009. There is an advertising showing a person who got a puncture at his neck to breath because of neck cancer which caused by SMOKING. Don't get me start on drugs.

8) If you are a social drinker, choose wine instead of beer.

I read from an issue of Nature and Health from the Borneo Post. Wine is healthier than beer.

9) Be Happy Go Lucky

Always be happy. Keep away from Hatred, Greed, and Delusion. Being angry just makes you older.

10) Do good and pray a lot.

As the title says.

If you never did or never will do any of the things listed above, you are being served with a silver plate of hypertension.

Foul Taste of Delicious Red

Never pack your wine in bottles. Haha, that is what I did. It tasted different. It gets thicker. Yesterday my friend came to find me about the joint venture. Was he eager or not. I promised him to get his design vectorized but until now, I haven't get one done. Lol.

I had a dream though. My roommate asked me about his birthday. Why I forget about his birthday? Well, actually we planned for a surprise cake cutting tonight.

And Happy Birthday to my Sister too for growing one year old again. Haha.
